Death Meditation
Immersive audio experience
Tested with an Audience during First Friday at Pervasive Media Studio, Bristol, May 2025
Resteless, have you ever felt restless?
Restless bones, restless muscles, restless gaze, restless voice, restless mind
Country after country, experience after experience, peace was nowhere to be found
My body, a flickering lightbulb fed by chaotic electric currents running through my veins
Have you ever felt the disconnection between your body and your mind?
Have your body ever felt like an alien being to feed and wash, but one whose language eludes your grasp?
Standing on the precipice, Seeking and searching, seeking and searching, captive to my overdrive, impulses racing in a furious succession, where am I ?
Stillness, at first a relentless agony, throbbing—my anxiety flooding every gland, each muscle seized by spasms Tears fell—drops of nuclear reactivite mortality In those initial encounters, stillness whispered some haunting questions : Are you comfortable with death? Are you at ease with the passing of time and the gradual decomposition of your fleshly gifts? Illness bore its weight , yet I continued, dragging my tired body across vast landscapes of experience, repressing stillness in the name of all things other - filling the emptiness with mortal fragments of memory and distracting myself by infinite flavours of my curiosity ------- in solitude, affirmation. In absence, presence. In death, life. In life, choices. What are you choosing today? questions, questions propelled by burning pain, found answers in east asian art forms, where time is stretched and reality suspended in liminal spaces bursting with possibilities.
Allowing the slow movement to unravel felt like a rebellious act, distortion of normes – disollution of time.
